Solving the worlds problems

...by fixing people's computers.
I seem to be (completely voluntarily) tech support to my few remaining relatives and a number of my friends. In the last few weeks I have worked on several computers, mostly with success.
I dismantled CKs laptop computer, and concluded I could not locate the short circuit somewhere on the power supply without feeding in enough current to make the failed component hot - so he decided to find out if a specialist motherboard repairer could locate the fault with less risk of further damage.
Still, I recovered the 70GB of data (mostly photographs) from the failing hard disc in his mother's desktop computer, and have replacement discs on order to repair the machine.
A couple of days ago, at the weekend, I recovered data from LMs failed computer and set up a fairly new (second hand)machine with all necessary data and software, and even configured a Netgear router (which includes a stateful packet inspection firewall) so she does not need to risk using a USB modem on broadband any more.
In between times I fixed
wellinghalls Psion, and a bit longer ago restored
rusticas computer to working order using two new hard discs and a linux live CD to wangle with the partitions.
I also fixed someone else's laptop and asked the owner in return to do a favour for another friend who needed help other than computer repair.
Am I making any progress yet?
