Arm emptying again
May. 17th, 2007 03:39 pmI just returned from my second platelet donation session, and again the most unpleasant part was fighting through the traffic system to get there. By having to drive several times around the one way system it is likely that more carbon dioxide was introduced into the atmosphere than a few domestic appliances on standby would do in a long while. I did eventually get to the correct car park by the (tortuous) legal route.
Still, it is a way to support the NHS, which, despite its increasing problems, is something I believe is very valuable.
It cheered me up that the next person to arrive at the desk was a teenager asking at what age it was OK to give blood. She was told "17" and said she would be back in about 4 weeks after her 17th birthday. That is an attitude I heartily applaud.
