Apr. 12th, 2007 09:37 amEastercon last weekend was good - and a much needed break. Since then I have been trying to catch up with my work for most of my waking hours.
On leaving Eastercon we found we had fallen victim to a parking scam. I had read about these, and even know two people who have had to fight the council previously, but this is our first one. We parked in the multistory car park and displayed three of the hotel's parking permits (for three days) that they pre-pay for in order to use the multistory carpark as overflow parking.
Stuck to the window was a notice of a fine to be paid in a fairly short time, else it would double. Thus they persuade people it is easier to pay than to argue and possibly pay double. However the hotel's representative said that since they are a big customer for the council's parking permits, they would be able to sort it out. If we're lucky we shall not hear anything more of it.
Now I must return to work - a customer is coming to see me so I have to tidy up. If you'd seen my office you would know why I needed a break ...
