Ouch! This afternoon I spent about 90 minutes in the dentist's chair when I should have been visiting a client. An abscess, which kept me awake for much of the bit of last night I might otherwise have slept, will need a root canal filling and a crown early in the New Year.
The same tooth kept me awake for a couple of nights in a row about four years ago when all the dentists seemed to be on holiday, and nothing made any difference to the pain - like attacking a battleship using a peashooter. It is perverse that unexpected problems like this seem to happen at difficult times, not when there is more spare capacity to deal with them.
Now the anaesthetic is beginning to wear off, and the pain is coming back with a vengeance.
