Probably justified my existence for today
I spent most of my day working as a counsultant for a company with offices in Milton Keynes, at their offices and at one of their suppliers. I discovered a number of problems on the electronics they were being supplied with, much of it at the pre-production sample stage. Bullet dodged, from their point of view.
Next Wednesday I go to Hull, catching the 06:23 train, and, with luck returning by about 22:00, to witness the first installation of their new temperature monitoring equipment in a refrigierated truck. I should find no problems at this stage, but if my presence results in ten fewer service calls, they will definitely be in profit, even after the train fare priced at £250.
With prices like that, the train companies seem to me to be extracting the urine, but the thought of driving that round trip in addition to a demanding days work is not something I would relish.
On Thursday I am likely to spend most of the day at a doctor's office in London sorting out multiple computer problems, and helping the staff to get to grips with some more of the capabilities of their software.
There is more work to do on Friday, probably developing the 200W power factor corrected lighting power supply, so by the weekend I will probably deserve a beer, and maybe a curry!
