I spotted this while mousing around following links from another LJ user. The story as stated is appalling, and all too believable. Unwanted popups can land you in gaol (you need to scroll down to read the story).

It is difficult to be quite sure about the accuracy of stories on the net, but it seems to me to make sense.

I read this story, on a reputable news site, so I can believe it's true. All the poor teacher was guilty of was not knowing her way around a computer - obviously a heinous offence these days! On the other hand, the school authorities, who were negligent in updating the (very necessary) online protection for their pupils, seem to be getting off scot free.

I think this is because the school authorities can afford better lawyers, and the prosecutors know this.
